This is lovely antique, pre loved 9 Karat Rose Gold navette shaped shell cameo ring, made from the rare conch shell. As there isn’t a hallmark on this piece, we can only surmise when it was made but stylistically likely to be the Edwardian period through to 1920’s era. The cameo subject is a delicately carved dancing Venus/Aphrodite on this marquise shape ground with tri-splayed shoulders which makes this vintage piece an attractive acquisition. The condition of the cameo is very good to excellent for the age of the piece.

Rose gold is typically 75% gold with 22.5% copper with the remainder as silver. It declined in popularity in the mid 20th Century but has had a big revival in the last few years of very copper coloured gold as a contemporary style.
