A striking and distinctive pair of vintage 9 karat yellow gold amethyst, emerald, pearl and enamel earrings which were manufactured in London, England in 1970. Demonstrating the traditional purple, green and white colours of the Suffragette Movement, signifying ‘Give Women (the) Vote’ (Green/White/Violet).

These vintage earrings are reminiscent of the Holbeinesque style, circa 1870’s with the white enamel ‘C’ shapes, pearl, amethyst and enamel elements they combine to create this visual effect. The amethysts are in a Roman setting with additional claws, the 16 emeralds are all claw set, with the 10 pearls being drilled and peg set. These oval shaped drop earrings are fitted with 9 karat gold screw backs but can be easily adapted to take gold hook wires. Overall a very imposing set of earrings which can be paired with lots of other accessories or attire.

(Despite the name Holbeinesque, the style related to Renaissance inspired jewellery which had nothing to do with Holbein.)
