A delightful Regency 14 karat yellow gold swivel mourning ring, with black enamel plaque reading 'Sacred To A Beloved Father', the reverse with glazed locket compartment containing plaited hair within a surround of seed pearls. Seed pearls were often used in mourning jewellery of the Georgian and later Victorian periods to represent the tears of ring bearer for the deceased. The black enamel plaque reading 'Sacred To A Beloved Father' is in excellent condition and has been carefully crafted (see images) showing little loss despite being over 200 years old. The foliate is engraved decoration to the shoulders is set deeply with beautiful detail and shows little signs of wear.

There is a small mark for ‘585’ 14k yellow gold on the outside of the shank - possibly a later addition. The mourning inscription to the interior is dated 1817 and reads 'Sam(uel) Weston 10th Sept 1817 age 61'.

A great piece for any collector or to be worn. Some care must be taken with the pearls when washing, cleaning or using harsh chemicals - simply removing the ring will avoid any damage.
