A stunning Victorian diamond star or sunburst brooch  circa 1880’s comprising 5.70 carats of Old Mine cut diamonds. This large brooch, 5cm diameter is set in 18 karat gold with a silver front, which was typical of the period to enhance the diamonds in a white setting. The antique design is formed around a diamond cluster with a center stone of 0.50ct with eight-star points together with eight individually set diamonds on knife edge settings. This pre-loved brooch comes in its original box with a detachable brooch fitting and hook for wearing as a pendant. A separate safety chain comes with it too. There is very little wear to the brooch/pendant, it is in superb condition.

Please see a very similar star brooch included in ‘Understanding Jewellery’ by David Bennett and Daniela Mascetti. Plate 332 in 1990 Edition. Plate 313 in the current edition.
