A superb mourning signet ring, chalcedony seal set with a monogram of the letters CSN, the hinged top opens to reveal a locket compartment with a small oval portrait photograph. The reverse is engraved 'William Nelson Died Jan 11th 1866', mounted in 18k yellow gold, hallmarked Birmingham, with black enamel detail to the shoulders, with minor loss to the enamel, gross weight approximately 6.42 grams. A fantastic statement ring circa 1860s.
